good things.

July 2, 2006 at 4:50 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m trying to take advantage of good things around me. I think that is my lesson of the week. First, I experimented with buying all fresh herbs for the week instead of using the same old dried McCormick ones. And I’ve learned that it is quite a treat. Next, I traded TV time in the afternoon for more reading time! I usually only read at bedtime, or late night (like 2 am) if I cannot sleep. But, now while Kaya is napping in the afternoons, I’m reading. It feels good and it’s a way for me to de-stress midday.

If I update this thing more will you comment? ha ha. Does anybody read this, If you’re here PLEASE comment. even if it’s ONE word, but make it a good ONE word :)

new room.

June 18, 2006 at 6:18 pm (pictures, Uncategorized)

01. This is way back, before she could even roll over or hold her head up, so my room was a total mess of unsafe things for babies, and wires and just – clutter and shit! I am changing my entire lifestyle, and it's a slow but very nice process so yea, that is why these are the BEFORE shots:

02. Also, the mess of unsafe babyness way long ago:

03. Here is an in-between shot. This was while I had organized some but not had not utilized my wall/floor space well at all:

04. Same as number three, recently vacuumed. heh.

05. Here is another shot of the room, the view from the closet (far wall)

06. Here is ONE shelf built, the first day of building furniture:

07. Another shot of the 1st shelf:

08. Can you beleive I actually found fabric boxes in the exact colors of my walls? I was excited, hell yes.

09. And here is the wall with two shelfs built and some stuff on them, I'm not done..You can go to flickr and open these images in high res if you're nosy like me..

12. Here is Kaya in front of the new shelving. YES, her sleeper has her name on it!

13. And, Kaya discovering that the drawers pull OUT! whee!

14. And one B&W shot I took that I love. My babies both looking out the window at the same thing – the UPS man talking so loudly to some lady that the whole block could hear them.

A toddler?

May 29, 2006 at 6:16 pm (kaya, pictures, Uncategorized)

Holy shit, how did that happen? Kaya put herself to sleep, in her CRIB. yes, the piece of white wood that is pretty much a clothes rack, occasional play pen, or dumping ground while vacuuming or making the bed. I'll just attribute this luck to her 'flu' symptoms and the fact that it's sticky humid and she just could not keep her little eyes from drooping shut any longer. This can't actually be a new thing?  Could it? My eyes lit up with happiness when I saw her lay down, all by herself and close her eyes. Amazing.

in the crib, it's a miracle

Question of the day is this. Does Kaya become a toddler when she walks on her own or is there an age where a baby becomes a toddler? Let me know.

plants and things that grow.

March 31, 2006 at 4:56 am (pictures, Uncategorized)

I have decided to make a mini garden @ my house for Kaya.
I taught her today all about how to make things grown.
I told her about dirt and worms and foodchains and watering plants and sunshine.
It was a nice sunny day, a little chilly, but SPRING-ish. finally.
So, I got some flowers to plant. They came from Canada but I still like them a lot.

I am a HUGE shadow monster!!!

having a hard time figuring out just how to explain the black plague to your daughter? how about how to explain what bad breath is to your nephew? Wait, you need to teach your son about the ebola virus ? THERE ARE STUFFED ANIMALS (well, not animals…but microbes!!!) to help you do this!

come see them all. so weird.

I have to start somewhere.

March 21, 2006 at 7:16 pm (kaya, milestones)

my smiling baby is 10 months old.

My friend Melissa asked when I was going to use this as a space online that I actually use, and update. Well, Melissa…today is the day. Today is the day that I will update for the first of many postings on this here wordpress. It is Saturday once again, and I am sitting and wondering where the hell March of 2006(!) has gone. March is halfway over and I cannot beleive it. It feels like I was just in New Hampshire for Kaya’s first Christmas, come to think of it..it seems like Kaya was just born, but my little newborn is a 10 month old who is learning to talk and walk. Yes! that is my news, Kaya walked with assistance on Wednesday! I put her standing up at her little table/keyboard and it started to slide across the living room on the carpet and instead of falling like usual…she took a step to catch up with it. And another…and another…and then I ran around the house shrieking, scaring the hell out of the cats trying to remember where I had left the camcorder. I finally found it and ran back down to capture the moment (well…recreate it. heh).

I moved her back to her starting point, and she did it again…just kept taking steps and moving right along with the table like it was a walker. like she was a walker. she acted so natural about it. amazing.

I named the polar bear “diego” b/c I was in san Diego the first time I got really close to a polar bear. anyway..the pictures: Read the rest of this entry »

9 months.

February 11, 2006 at 10:49 am (kaya, pictures)

Kaya is 9 months old today.
9 months old
It just doesn’t seem possible that I had her 9 months ago. It is all true…all of the talk of “it goes so fast” and “cherish these moments”..It’s all so true. ps – comment if you are here. I have not given out this URL yet, but plan to.
